Terrarium
One long glass tank across your monitors, with a lizard or two who have things to do. They warm up under the lamp, cross the tank for a drink, and hunt anything you drop in.
How a day goes
- They get cold. A chilly lizard walks to the basking rock under the first lamp and sits there until it has warmed through.
- They get thirsty and hungry. The water dish is somewhere else on purpose. Long walks are the point.
- The lights go out. At night the lamps switch off and everybody heads for the rock cave.
Things you can do
- Drop a cricket and watch the nearest lizard stalk it, then lunge.
- Mist the tank. Beads of water land on the glass, gather, and run.
- Tap the glass and everyone nearby bolts, usually for the cave.
- Pick a turtle and the dish becomes a shallow pool. It plods over to swim, stretches out to bask, pulls into its shell when you tap the glass, then peeks back out when it feels brave. Offer it a strawberry or a lettuce leaf and watch it take bites.
- Customize: leopard gecko, bearded dragon, green anole, blue-tongued skink, box turtle or red-eared slider; desert sandstone or tropical forest floor; lamps, dusk, moonlight or a full day and night cycle; how many, how big, how many plants.
Every monitor
- In Chrome or Edge, open Customize and click Every monitor. The browser asks to manage windows on your displays; say yes, then click once per extra screen and once inside each new window. It is one continuous tank, and the lizards walk from screen to screen.
- Add
#embedto the address for just the tank with no controls, handy for kiosk and web-screensaver setups.
