Rack & Ruin

A 1.1 MW data hall at real scale: 80 racks on a 600 mm pitch, about 2,400 servers, A/B power through two UPSs, four PDUs and overhead busway, eight downflow CRACs on a 600 mm raised floor, a contained hot aisle, VESDA smoke detection and a an IG-541 inert-gas suppression system. Every one of those systems is modelled. You have a sledgehammer, a fire axe and a ten-minute shift.

Life-accurate means: racks are bolted down and weigh 850 kg. Smashing live 480 V gear ends your shift permanently; trip the breaker first. Lifting floor tiles opens real holes. Killing CRACs lets the inlet temperature climb a few degrees a minute; above 35 °C servers throttle, above 45 °C they trip. Smoke brings VESDA alerts, horns, a 30-second pre-discharge and a 60-second inert-gas dump that also kills hard drives with noise. Downtime is billed at $9,000 a minute. Needs a mouse and keyboard; assets were modelled in Blender at real equipment dimensions.
